Please note that the venue this is a licensed bar. Please do NOT bring outside alcohol in. We will run a gift bar at UndieComp next year. And please remember to tip our lovely bar staff.
Also, if you're driving, please drink responsibly. We want to see your lovely face again in the future. Thanks!
Ever wonder what it might be like to celebrate the holiday season at Burning Man? Complete with the 10 principlesand all that good stuff that makes so many of us call Burning Man "home"?
Hoping to celebrate the holidays with your stay at home partner, but work for an employer that thinks a lunchtime potluck office holiday party is great for team building?
Want to wear something a little extra sexy to a holiday party, but concerned what you manager might think? Well, you're in luck...
Join us for another Burning Man-inspired night of fun with wicked live acts, DJs, and art by you, as well as some fabulous prizes, maybe a crowning holiday costume competition… and no expensive bar!
UndieComp 2010, UndieComp 3D!, UndieComp: Final Mission and last year's TOAST Roast 2013 were smashing successes! If you weren't able to make it to those events, just ask anyone who did to find out what you missed. With the enthusiasm and collaborations triggered by The T.O.A.S.T. of Toronto's officially unofficial previous events, our next big night out will be a foray into creating another UndieComp-spirited, Burning Man-inspired secular yuletide office-style pARTy that doesn't suck!
:: What To Expect ::
We'll be kicking off the night with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and will follow with excitement, socializing and wicked entertainment as provided by YOU, the pARTicipants! And this time around you'll have the opportunity to come AS DRESSED UP (or as stripped down) as you like! Imagine being able to have a civilized conversation over a nice drink and meal with friends old and new before lifting off into a super fun night of fun! Happy tummy, happy you, happy holiday pARTy!
Ken is a veteran radio personality, host, DJ, producer, and station manager/program director of Toronto's last standing truly independent radio station CIUT 89.5 FM, will be sharing some of the arts and community-inspiring insights he's gleaned from over 25 years in community radio! Ken is the creator and host of the now decades-running "Global Rhythms", a weekly radio show that highlights musical gems from around the world. Ken can also be heard Friday Mornings from 6 - 9 AM as one of 4 wicked DJs on CIUT's Funky Fridays show. In keeping with what will become a TOAST tradition, Ken's 5 - 10 minute talk will not be the drab drunken 15 minute thank you platitudes that are so often heard at (yawn) office parties. Following in the steps of the delightful Lorraine Wright, last year's TOAST Roast guest of honour, Ken will surely make us want to tune in, learn from this community icon, and have more fun!

:: Our New Venue: The Junction City Music Hall ::
This time around we've opted for an intimate cool new up-and-coming venue in Toronto's hottest neighbourhood, the Junction!
For our night of fun we're taking over the subterranean social Junction City Music Hall. If you haven't heard of it yet, don't worry you soon will as the 6 month old venue is starting to show up on the best of/must see lists of Toronto's socialite magazines. That's why we love it. If you blink you'll miss it. If you have a nose for finding the next great unpretentious thing, this joint's for you. Talk about having the cache of a New York City nameless bar. The place is packed with cool vintage artefacts including arcade games and 1970’s "adult" magazine pages in the men’s room. Check it out for the wall art alone!
Btw, the TOAST of Toronto's founder auBrey Friesner's band Turn Style has adopted the JCMH as their home for a monthly live show the 3rd Thursday of the month. As such, and because Turn Style loves the TOAST Roast, they will be playing a short set of up beat tunes as their way to pARTicpate!
:: Getting There and Back Home::
The wildly quirky Junction City Music Hall is located on the south side of Dundas St. W., just a block and a few doors west of Keele. The venue can be easily accessed by bus from Keele or Dundas West TTC station. Don't bother sitting down as the ride is less than 10 minutes long. If you're driving (but not drinking much, of course), there's plenty of free street parking on Dundas.
PLEASE PLAN TO DRINK RESPONSIBLY. DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. HAVE A CLEAR PLAN TO GET HOME.
:: Only 100 Tickets Available ::
ONLY 100 admissions will be sold. We're aiming to create a high quality, comfortable safe space for the good folks who will be pARTicipating with us.
Admission prices are being kept as reasonably-priced as possible given that we are just trying to cover the cost of the event. We have absolutely no profit motive. All funds raised will go directly to pARTy.
*** Advanced admission $10 (until 11:59 PM Tuesday, December 16th), $15 at the door. ***
See the TOAST Roast Admissions page on this site to learn how to buy your advanced tickets now.
Our hope is to that the event will be another TOASTy delight thanks to you and the good folks that you'll invite along through your one-degree of separation friendship networks. (We will NOT be mass advertising this event. Please share this invite with like-minded good folks like you if you wish.)
If the event is like most previous TOAST of Toronto events it will sell out in advance. That said, get your payment in ASAP and book THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18th in your calendar for the one event this holiday season that you won't want to
:: Plan To LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES AT HOME ::
While we will do everything we can to ensure to create a safe container for you to enjoy, the bar and organizers assume NO responsibility for lost or stolen items. Please come prepared to carry only the valuables you absolutely need for the night with you at all times. Leave unnecessary items at home.
Get Involved, pARTicipate, Make The World A Better Place ::
The best way to get the most out of any T.O.A.S.T. event is to get involved with making it happen. If you’re interested in pARTicipating and making the TOAST Roast even more insanely awesome than previous events, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org stating your interest. Volunteers of all kinds, including folks to help plan and run the event, as well as artists are more than welcome! Thanks in advance.
